The U.S. State Department has issued a warning for Americans traveling to Lebanon. The warning, issued Monday, added that the potential threat to U.S. government personnel in Beirut is also serious.

The State Department said the increase in tensions in the Middle East has prompted a dramatic rise in anti-U.S. rhetoric and public sentiment. Additionally, the warning stressed recent incidents in Lebanon, such as bombings directed at U.S. restaurants and the killing of an American citizen, and called for U.S. citizens to be cautious and to take sound security precautions.
