Nokia today announced the availability of the sophisticated and sleek Nokia 6111 slide phone, expanding its portfolio of powerful, well designed and simple-to-use handsets. The launch at Cairo ICT 2006 reinforces the mobile communication leader’s belief in the strength of the Egyptian and broader North African markets and its commitment to providing them with the latest handsets and technologies.

Sporting a classic design, the phone’s ergonomic soft slide mechanism reveals the keypad. The Nokia 6111’s small size and colour range that includes pink - a first for Nokia – is sure to catch the eye of style-savvy consumers who also demand the latest in connectivity. Push-to-talk functionality connects to groups or individuals at the push of a button while Nokia Xpress audio messaging enables sharing of voice clips and greetings with friends and family. Pictures can be conveniently shared via MMS, Bluetooth or email.
“Today’s launch showcases Nokia’s commitment to offering consumers easy-to-use mobile phones that also meet their high-tech communication, style and design needs. A handset must offer straightforward usability to bring tangible benefits to consumers. Simplicity is the key for technology to enrich peoples’ lives,” said Jarmo Santala, General Manager, North and West Africa, Nokia.
The GSM 900/1800/1900 Nokia 6111 comes with a 1-megapixel camera, a flash and a 6x digital zoom. The screen (128x160 pixels) supports up to 262,144 colors and displays pictures in either portrait or landscape mode.
Santala added, “By offering the largest range of mobile handsets of any manufacturer, Nokia is able to help all types of consumers take advantage of the growing scope of mobile communication services coming to market.”
Nokia will be demonstrating the lifestyle- and productivity-enhancing capabilities of these next generation mobile communications at its 3G-powered stand, which will highlight the latest rich media services, such as person-to-person video sharing and advanced voice services and mobile gaming, as well as opportunities for growth and mutual gain across North Africa.

Visitors can visit the Nokia stand (booth 4A 10) at the Cairo ICT 2006 which will be held at the Cairo International Conference Center between February 5-8.
