Siemens Communications, one of the world’s largest communications providers, will display a wide range of its leading-edge technologies at Oman’s leading IT and telecommunication forum, COMEX Oman, which will take place from 26th to 30th April at Oman International Convention Centre.

The event will bring together some of the world’s largest ICT companies and Siemens Communications aims to use the opportunity to cement its position as one of the Sultanate’s main suppliers of world-class mobile and fixed networking technology.

“Siemens has a long and proud history in Oman dating back to 1860,” said Ralf Fueller, General Manager of Siemens in Oman. “In 1996, Siemens launched the country’s first ever GSM service and today most strategic parts of the country’s telecommunications infrastructure are powered by Siemens technology.

“We will use COMEX to further strengthen this relationship with the Sultanate, displaying our latest mobile solutions to demonstrate new and innovative services for the people in Oman.”

During the event, Siemens will be holding live technology demonstrations on its stand to give visitors first hand experience of these solutions, including its High Speed Download Packet Access (HSDPA) offering and the latest advances in mobile video-streaming. This is part of the mobile industry’s ‘infotainment’ drive which is expected to account for up to 90 per cent of data traffic in the coming years.

“Wireless technology is advancing at a rapid pace and Siemens is a trend-setter with these developments,” said Fueller. “Oman’s telecommunications infrastructure is among the most advanced in the region and I am quite sure that the technologies on display at the Siemens Communications stand at COMEX will be available to the Omani public in the near future.”
