Tehran's substitute Friday prayers leader Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati questioned the US claim to be the world major supporter of democracy following the disclosure of the Iraqi prisoners' abuse by US troops.
Stressing that the cornerstone of the US policy is "lying, deception, fraud and cheating," he added that Washington believes that the human rights should merely secure the interests of the US investors worldwide.
"Even those who have so far either doubted the US claims or were reluctant to disapprove them, denounce it on account of the recent revelations and admit that the US has definitely violated the human rights in Iraq," he added, according to IRNA.
Calling on Iraqi people to be patient and prompting them to take the oppressed Palestinians facing their enemy as a model, he said, "The God almighty has promised that you would eventually overcome the enemy.
"Such a victory would be materialized through unity and following the orders issued by religious scholars, particularly Ayatollah Sistani, who is firmly determined to lead the people and put them on the right track." (Albawaba.com)
