Senior al Qaeda commander from Egyptian origin killed in Pakistan

An Egyptian who served as a senior al Qaeda commander was killed in the tribal region bordering Afghanistan, Pakistani Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed confirmed on Saturday.

 

Abu Hamza Rabia, operational commander of al Qaeda, was among five people killed in a blast at the house where they were hiding in the North Waziristan tribal region on Thursday. "Yes, I confirm that Abu Hamza Rabia, the Egyptian, has been killed," the minister told Reuters.
