Revenues to be generated from the Syrian series Albahth A’n Salahiddin (Search For Saladin) directed by Najdat Anzur including the proceeds from advertisements and contest that will accompany each episode will be allocated for the families of the Palestinian Intifada Martyrs.
“Tackling big issues is not an easy thing. We allocate all our resources to make this work a success and attempt to link the character of Saladin with the present status quo within a cinema-TV variety with new images,” the director told the Arabic daily Al Sharq al Awsat.
Amzur adds, “in order to link the original Saladin with the one whom we are looking for now, we made a poster with picture of Fares Audeh, one of the Intifada Martyrs. Revenues from the series that will be generated from advertisements and contests of each episode will go to the families of the uprising Martyrs.”
Costarring in the series, which was scripted by Mahmoud Abdel Karim, are artists from Syria, Lebanon and Jordan.
“I have not presented the character of Saladin as a superman but I wrote his struggle biography with future orientation based on documented historical references in a manner addressing current events,” said the writer.
