Scottish company Abbot Group has won a milestone contract worth $75 million to supply and run two drilling rigs in Iran, reported the Scotsman online news service Wednesday.

The deal, struck between the Aberdeen-headquartered energy company and Petroiran Development Company of Iran will run for three years with extension options, said the online service.

Abbot subsidiary KCA Drilling is to manage the rigs that belong to the Romanian oil company Petron, said Scotsman.

It added that Petron will be paid a large chunk of the $75 million revenues for the use of the rigs.

"We anticipate capturing further significant contracts in Iran during the current year and we believe that we will establish a significant revenue stream from those operations in the medium term," said a Abbot in a statement – Albawaba.com
