Reuters reported late Thursday that King Salman of Saudi Arabia has announced several cabinet moves.
Citing state television, the news service said the ministries of Education and Higher Education had been merged, and Justice Minister Mohammed al-Issa has been replaced.
The report said Oil Minister Ali al-Naimi, Finance Minister Ibrahim Alassaf and Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal will all be staying in place.
Al Arabiya said that state employees, students, pensioners and some other groups would receive two months' income.
Bandar bin Sultan has been removed from the national security council, the channel said, and Prince Mishaal bin Abdullah was removed as governor of Mecca.
Mansour bin Mutaib, formerly Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs, has been promoted to Minister of State.
Saleh Al Sheikh was made Minister of Islamic Affairs. Al Arabiya General Manager Adel Al Toraifi was appointed Information Minister.
