Saudi Arabia’s Justice Minister Abdullah al-Sheikh and the visiting head of Iran's judiciary on Sunday discussed human rights within Islam and judicial cooperation, according to SPA news agency.

Ayatollah Mahmud Hashemi-Shahrudi arrived in the Red Sea port city of Jeddah Saturday for the first ever judicial exchange between Shiite Iran and Sunni Saudi Arabia, both of which apply sharia, or Islamic law.

Both countries were later expected to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote judicial cooperation and exchange of expertise in the field, Sheikh said.

Meanwhile, IRNA news agency reported that Shahrudi's talks would deal with the fight against terrorism, judicial cooperation, security, the presence of US forces in the region and regional cooperation. (Albawaba.com)
