A Saudi Arabian policeman was slightly wounded during a shootout with a suspected criminal who resisted arrest and took shelter in an apartment building, according to Al Riyadh

In its Sunday edition, the paper said the gunman opened fire with an automatic rifle at police who surrounded the building by a highway just outside Riyadh.

The man was arrested after a sniper shot him in the leg Saturday. The policeman was wounded in the hand when he fell on the ground trying to avoid gunfire from the man.

Police were investigating if the man was linked to four gunmen who on January 23 killed a Kuwaiti soldier and wounded three Saudis, including two police officers, before fleeing. (Albawaba.com)
