Saraya Aqaba, in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Ministry of Education in Jordan, launched an educational road show in Aqaba to introduce high school (Tawjihi) students to Saraya Scholarship Fund in the fields of hotels & hospitality.
Dr. Khalid Wazani, General Manager of Saraya Aqaba, and representatives from Saraya Aqaba and Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) participated in the road show, which aims to introduce students to the Scholarship Fund that Saraya Aqaba offers and the conditions of the participation in the scholarship program. The road show comprises of ten sessions for a period of five days from July 9-13.
Dr. Khaled Wazani said, "The workshop's program includes sessions and debate circles to answer students' questions and queries and take note of their views regarding topics that tackle their present, educational and professional future and help place them on the right path towards realizing their ambitions and dreams". He added "This road show is one of a series of Saraya's endeavors to serve and support the local communities in order to implement its vision in contributing to securing better lives for Aqaba's community". Wazani indicated that it is vital to provide various forms of support and care to the kingdom's students, particularly in this critical secondary level which constitutes a pivotal point in determining students' future.
The educational cooperation agreement for Saraya Scholarship Fund was signed earlier this year by His Excellency Dr. Khalid Touqan, Minister of Education and Higher Education & Scientific Research, and Mr. Ali Kolaghassi, Saraya Vice Chairman and CEO. Saraya will present 10 undergraduate university scholarships to high school graduates from Aqaba residences who are interested in pursuing careers in the fields of hotels and hospitality.
The scholarships will go to students with Tawjihi grades over 70%, and will support them in obtaining their university degrees in the mentioned fields outside of Jordan. Scholarships will cover university fees and all additional expenses accrued over the course of the four-year university period. Upon graduation, students will be employed for a set period at one of Saraya Aqaba's six 5-star hotels.
