Samsung Electronics announced that it has obtained ‘Windows Vista Premium Certification’ from Microsoft for 20 and 22-inch wide monitors and will also acquire the certification for 19-inch monitors.
‘Windows Vista Certification’, established by Microsoft, is classified into basic and premium versions and it is given to products which comply with Microsoft’s configuration requirements and can be used with the Windows Vista operating system to be unveiled early next year.
To get the ‘Windows Vista Premium Certification,’ Samsung products had to pass not only the demanding high definition regulations that would accommodate Windows Vista User Interface (UI) but also through stricter standards than basic certification in port availability.
Samsung Electronics has maintained a closer relationship with Microsoft by creating a taskforce team to acquire the certification for the past year.
The wide monitors, which acquired Windows Vista Premium Certification, will be unveiled to the Middle Eastern markets with the logo of ‘Windows Vista Premium’ in January 2007.
“Considering that IT companies are competitively developing products for Windows Vista and trying to get the certification, we are proud to have obtained this certification for two of our key products ahead of all competitors,” said Mr. Kwang Hak Koh, General Manager Information Technology Division at Samsung Gulf Electronics. “We will continue to take the lead in the wide monitor market by releasing more new monitors for Windows Vista in the future.”
