ALBAWABA - An overnight Russian missile attack on Kyiv killed 2 people, with explosions ringing out across the Ukrainian capital.
In a post on Telegram, the Ukrainian Military administration stated that Kyiv's air defense systems had been activated as sirens through the capital with flashing lights across the night sky.
A missile fragment fell on residential buildings in Kyiv's neighboring Brovary district, according to Ukraine's State Emergency Service on Telegram. The defense ministry also added that the Russian drones were attacking five other regions simultaneously.
A 35-year-old man and his four-year-old kid were discovered dead under the ruins of a building during search and rescue operations, according to reports. Three additional people sustained significant injuries.
Many Ukrainians have grown concerned in recent days that Moscow may start air assaults in reaction to Kyiv's recent incursion into Russian territory. Meanwhile, Russia said that it was evacuating tens of thousands of people from the Kursk area, which had been invaded by Ukrainian soldiers.
On Sunday, the acting governor, Alexei Smirnov, claimed on the Telegram messaging app that he had "instructed" the head of the Belovsky district of the area, in Kursk's south-west, to "speed up" the evacuation process.
"More than 76,000 people have been temporarily relocated to safe places," the state-run TASS news agency reported a regional emergency situations ministry official as saying at a press conference.
