ALBAWABA - Russia's Moscow The renowned opposition leader Aleksey Navalny passed away in jail in February, and his widow, Yuliya Navalnaya, has an arrest order out for her from a Russian court.
A statement from the Moscow Basmanny Court confirmed that Navalnaya is the target of a lawsuit. After the court found that she participated in activities for extremist groups, an in-absentia arrest order was issued.
Renowned Kremlin critic Aleksey Navalny was arrested on January 17, 2021, at a Moscow airport after treatment for a suspected poisoning in Berlin. Due to parole breaches, Navalny's 3.5-year suspended sentence from a prior corruption case was changed into a normal jail term by the Moscow City Court on February 2, 2021.
While completing his term in August 2023, Navalny was found guilty of organizing an extremist organization and was given a further 19 years in jail. Navalny was included on a list of people connected to radicalism and terrorism in Russia in January 2023.
On February 16, the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) announced Navalny's death while incarcerated.
