ALBAWABA -  Russian authorities announced imposing sanctions on 23 British citizens and senior military officials on Wednesday, including Chief of Defense Staff Admiral Antony Radakin and Chair of the Joint Intelligence Committee Madeleine Alessandri, for pursuing anti-Russian policy and backing the "neo-Nazi regime" in Ukraine.

In a statement published on the Russian Foreign Ministry website, the ministry said the sanctions are imposed in response to London's "anti-Russian course, in which the mechanism of personal sanctions is actively applied and comprehensive support is provided to the neo-Nazi regime in Kyiv".

"We would like to emphasize once again that attempts by the British side to increase sanctions pressure on Russia will inevitably receive a decisive rebuff from our side. Work on expanding the Russian ‘stop list’ in response to London's hostile actions will continue," the statement reads.

According to the statement, Russia believes that Admiral Radakin supervises the training of Ukrainian forces soldiers in their fight against Russia.

Cressida Hogg, the CEO of the weapons manufacturer BAE Systems, is also among those sanctioned. A number of researchers were also sanctioned because they were "involved in the collection and analysis of information for the fight against Russia".
