Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, meeting for three hours on Monday, agreed to hold a three-way summit with Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas in the near future, Israel Radio reported.

The summit is expected to be held within four weeks, the report added. A senior U.S. official in Rice's delegation said the "trilateral meeting" will be aimed at "having a conversation about the political horizon leading to the establishment of a Palestinian state."

No details of the talks were formally released and Rice departed for Egypt after the talks with Olmert without speaking to the media, AFP reported.
