US military convoys came under fire twice west of Baghdad Friday morning, and several soldiers were apparently injured, witnesses told news agencies.
In the first incident, a convoy came under attack on a highway between the Iraqi towns of Ramadi and Fallujah.
The highway was blocked at the town of Khaldiyah, 75 kilometers west of Baghdad, and one witness said two US troops appeared to have been injured in the assault.
In the second incident, three mines exploded as a convoy drove in Al-Falahat area to the west of Fallujah, and one vehicle caught fire, a witness said.
US tanks and armored vehicles encircled the region as helicopters hovered overhead, said another witness, according to media reports.
