A group of GSPC fighters has been overpowered in the south of In Salah (Tamanrasset) and a significant batch of weapons and munitions recovered by Algerian forces, the People's National Army (ANP) general staff announced on Saturday. According to APS, the men were intercepted in the course of one of ANP's operations, while trying "to infiltrate from the Algerian-Malian border onboard a Toyota 4-wheel drive," it was pointed out.
The operations are still under way to overpower the group's last elements, the same source went on.
The operation helped neutralise vehicles loaded with a big quantity of weapons and munitions. These weapons "could have helped them cause more havoc and victims among the Algerian population," it was stated.
