Sightings of rare whale and dolphin species over the weekend have once again put the spotlight on the Sultanate's rich marine diversity, Oman's Observer reported Saturday.
Rare Sperm and Killer whales, as well as elusive Spotted dolphins, were among a number of cetacean species spotted in the waters off Muscat in what has been described as yet another shot in the arm for Oman's burgeoning aqua-tourism industry, said the paper.
According to the daily, the sightings were reported by Mohamed al Riyami, Managing Director of Arabian Sea Safaris, a Muscat-based tour firm specializing in whale and dolphin watching among other aqua-based pursuits -- Albawaba.com
