ALBAWABA - Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced on Monday that $6 billion in frozen Iranian assets, which is out of $12 billion, is set to be released by Qatar.
Recently, the United States carried out airstrikes on the Hormuz area and several cities in the country after accusing Iran of attacking cargo ships. In return, Tehran launched strikes on Sunday targeting Kuwait and Bahrain.
According to the Associated Press, Iran has twice struck ships going through a route near the Omani side, amid concerns that talks to reach a formal end to the war could be disrupted.

Pezeshkian: Qatar to release $6 billion in Iran assets
President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Monday that thanks to the peace deal with the U.S., "a great victory for the Iranian people." The Iranian leader revealed this in a statement to the state-run (IRNA) news agency.
"Based on the plans made, $6 billion out of the total $12 billion of Iranian resources in Qatar will be released and returned to the country, and necessary follow-ups are being carried out," he said.
It is worth noting that Qatar and Pakistan are considered key mediators in the negotiations between Washington and Tehran during the 100-day war, which started on Feb. 28, 2026.
