Porsche Middle East & Africa is proud to crown its record-breaking achievements during the year by unveiling its all-new mid-engined coupe, Cayman S, in the highly important Middle East market at “The 8th Middle East International Motor Show 2005” held in Dubai. It will spearhead a host of Porsche models present at the show featuring Boxster, 911 Carrera S Coupe, Carrera 4S Cabriolet, Cayenne in its 3 versions, in addition to the most successful high performance sports car of all time, the Carrera GT.
Porsche will also assess the public’s interest in the potential launch of a GT3 Cup Challenge in the region by displaying the new generation 911 GT3 Cup car. This prospect will be established by the three-month road show that will be carried out in various markets across the Middle East region.
Deesch Papke, Managing Director of Porsche Middle East & Africa, highlighted the huge potential of Porsche in the region: “Once again, the Middle East & Africa region reveals more of the future it holds for Porsche brand. Our record-breaking achievements during the year shifted to higher gear with the launch of the 911 Carrera and Boxster new generation models. Then our relentless and perfectionist attitude carried us into another very promising phase of expansion and growth with the launch of the ingenious Cayman S new model that will power Porsche to new highs. The ever growing passion for Porsche in the region, coupled with the superb effort of our importers, clears the way for a truly magnificent and promising future.”
Out of the total 3,811 Porsche cars delivered to customers in the region during the record breaking financial year 2004/2005, the United Arab Emirates market registered the sale of a staggering 1,438 vehicles out of which 82% are Cayenne sales. Although the automobile markets have not yet fully re¬covered, Porsche once again succeeded in selling more vehicles and in posting record results in terms of key operating figures. Group turnover rose by 6.9 per cent to 6.57 billion Euros. Pre-tax results increased by 8.9 per cent to 1.238 billion Euros. The addition of Cayman S to Porsche’s Model range in conjunction with the ground-breaking scheduled introduction of the all-new Panamera four-door sports coupé in 2009, will further enhance Porsche’s model range and power it confidently into the future. A future brimming with confidence as Porsche acquired a share of 18.53 percent in Volkswagen Group stock capital.
Like every Porsche model, Cayman S is characterized by a host of instantly recognizable Porsche DNA attributes that endow every Porsche car with its legendary visual status. At the same time however, many features give it a truly unique character and highly individual youthful expression. The precisely chiseled surfaces curved both inwards and outwards, and the attractively styled sweeping wheel arches with the large tailgate define the dynamic theme of the car. At the front, you immediately focus on the asymmetric headlights and air scoops with round fog lamps integrated right in the middle. Moreover, the state of the art chassis with a wide track in conjunction with the long sleek roof, automatically extending wing, and 18-inch tyres accentuate the sporty and dynamic appearance of Porsche’s new Sports Coupe.
The Cayman S is certainly a genuine performer. Porsche’s development engineers have created a brand new thoroughbred sports car in every respect, in a combination never seen before. With a 3.4 litre six-cylinder boxer engine featuring VarioCam Plus technology, Cayman S provides powerful torque with superior peak output of 295 horse power capable of accelerating the car from zero to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds, all the way to top speed of 275 km/h. Combined with the unparalleled neutrality and balance of a mid-engined car, these performance figures place the Cayman S at a standard of agility appreciated by all drivers. The ultra stiff chassis of the car ensures a new dimension in sporty and dynamic handling characteristics, especially when accompanied by Porsche Stability Management (PSM) and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM).
The basic retail price of Cayman S in the United Arab Emirates is Dhs 199,900 or US$ 54,470 (Subject to vehicle specifications). The model would complete its regional launch journey across the Middle East by 8 December 2005.
