Despite widespread anger at Israel's continuing aggression against the Palestinians, only one in 10 Jordanians believe that the government's best course of action in the current crisis would be cutting ties with the Jewish state.

A comfortable majority supports the official stand vis-a-vis the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. These are some of the findings of an opinion poll on government popularity released on Sunday by the Center for Strategic Studies (CSS) at the University of Jordan, quoted by Jordan Times.

Among a national sample of 1,470 adults from various parts of the Kingdom, 35.7 per cent of the respondents said the official stand on Israel and the ongoing crisis reflected the public's point of view to a large degree, while 28.9 and 10.3 per cent said government policies on the conflict matched public opinion to a medium and small degree, respectively.

Only 16.6 percent of a general public sample polled by the CSS said government positions vis-a-vis the crisis did not reflect the popular point of view. (Albawaba.com)
