Israeli police on Friday stormed Al Aqsa compound in Jerusalem after hundreds of Palestinian worshippers threw stones at them, Israeli police and radio stations said.

Police used stun grenades to subdue the demonstrators who began throwing stones after Friday prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque. One Israeli policeman was lightly wounded in the incident. After about 30 minutes of clashes calm restored.

In the West Bank, the Israeli army destroyed the houses of two Hamas members in Bethlehem.

The two, named as Hassan Abu Sireh and Ibrahim Jundieh, allegedly helped to plan a suicide bombing on a Jerusalem bus in January 2002 that killed 12 people and injured another 40, the sources said Friday.

But relatives of Abu Sireh said he was shot dead by Israeli forces in June 2001 after killing an Israeli intelligence officer near Bethlehem. His home in Bethlehem's Azza refugee camp housed five people.

Jundieh is currently in an Israeli jail, his family said, according to AFP. His house, home to nine other people, was in Bethlehem's Aida refugee camp. (Albawaba.com)
