A Palestinian woman was killed by Isreli tank fire Sunday evening, close to the southern Gaza settlement of Rafiah Yam.
The woman was indentified as Nahla Ajel, a resident of Rafah. Four others were wounded in the incident, including Ajel's three children, aged 14, 7 and 4, and another woman, aged 25.
Palestinian witnesses said Ajel, 41, and her three children were walking to their home in Rafah near the border fence separating Gaza from Egypt when Israeli troops opened fire from a nearby position.
Earlier, Israeli troops arrested five Palestinians from the West Bank city of Nablus. The Israeli occupation army placed a permanent iron roadblock in central Nablus on Sunday, to check vehicles when a closure is not imposed on the city. Palestinian sources told Israel Radio that the roadblock, the first of its kind in West Bank cities, was placed opposite the governor's office in the city.
Meanwhile, Israel said its troops operating early Sunday morning foiled an infiltration attempt close to the Gush Katif bloc of settlements in southern Gaza Strip. Israel Radio reported that the troops spotted three armed Palestinians between the Katif and Ganei Tal settlements and gave chase. The three fled toward Khan Yunis. (Albawaba.com)
