ALBAWABA - Tulkarm Battalion leader Mohammad Jaber, known as "Abu Shuja," was greeted as a hero today in the Noor Shams camp in the northern West Bank after residents rescued him from a city hospital under siege by Palestinian Authority security forces.

Social media footage shows massive throngs of Palestinians celebrating the homecoming of the Al-Quds Brigades head, the military branch of the Islamic Jihad Movement, who Israel is aggressively pursuing. Video shows teenage guys carrying Jaber during Noor Shams camp festivities.

Citizens rescued Jaber from Thabet Thabet Government Hospital in Tulkarm, sources told Al Jazeera. This rescue followed urgent demands from opposition factions for mass mobilization to break the hospital security siege.

After an explosive device construction error, 26-year-old Jaber was hospitalized. Before his evacuation, Palestinian security forces and resistance fighters fought. Anti-resistance leader protestors were dispersed by security police using tear gas.

Al-Quds Brigades, Hamas' military branch, Al-Qassam Brigades, and Fatah's Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades called for broad mobilization to remove the siege of Jaber.

Jaber has survived Israeli military assassinations. The most notable effort came in April when he was carried on shoulders during the Noor Shams camp burial march, days after a 50-hour Israeli military offensive that killed 14 Palestinians.
