Buoyed by broad-based industry support, the Arab Oil & Gas Show 2006 (OGS 2006) will open tomorrow (Sunday, 10th September, 2006) at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre, as the definitive event for petroleum industry professionals, investors and equipment and technology providers. The 13th edition of the show will host 180 plus exhibitors from over 30 countries.
Renewing focus on Health and Safety for oil, gas and petrochemical facilities, the annual event will also showcase innovative technologies and services pertinent to the oil and gas sector through the Arab Instrumentation and Automation Exhibition (AIA). The AIA was set up as a discrete platform in light of increasing demand for a viable avenue to comprehensively explore process automation and control technologies with a significant cross-over in a region that accounts for nearly 60 per cent of the world’s proven oil reserves.
“We are aiming to deliver a consistently available and comprehensive technology platform to meet the growing needs of the UAE-based, as well as GCC and Middle Eastern markets. The launch of the AIA segment at OGS 2005 was very well received by professionals from across these markets, with both the exhibition and technical presentations registering record numbers of interested trade representatives. This has further strengthened the AIA platforms product and technology offerings in 2006,” said Anselm Godinho, Managing Director, International Conferences and Exhibitions, organisers of OGS.
The OGS and AIA platforms have attracted much interest from trade delegations and trade visitors alike who are seeking a sourcing platform for services and equipment needed to rebuild Iraq’s energy sector.
“Rapidly increasing demand from growing economies and high oil prices are resulting in pressure to upgrade production capacities and refining techniques by the introduction of more efficient technologies in conventional energy, as well as the exploration of new energy sources. OGS 2006 will play a strong role in this scenario, providing refining, storage, manufacturing, transportation and distribution network technologies through our international exhibitors. Further, the current Middle East politico-economic scenario is attracting a lot of foreign capital to rebuild Iraq’s embattled energy infrastructure, and OGS will play an important role as sourcing platform in that regard,” said Godinho.
OGS 2006 is aiming to encourage discussion on a diversity of issues by holding a series of expert speaker sessions and seminars on various topics relevant to contemporary energy sector practices. “We are developing OGS not only as a trade event but a comprehensive liaisoning platform and important networking opportunity. Bringing key players together will facilitate the exchange of thoughts, ideas and experiences, while contributing to business development,” concluded Godinho.
