Egyptian journalists were sentenced last week for two years of imprisonment for publishing photographs of naked women, security sources said.
Defense lawyers were quoted by the Middle East as saying the pictures were published for a scientific article and were not intended to have sexual overtones.
Waheed Ghazi, editor-in-chief of the weekly Al Muwajaha newspaper, and a reporter, Hossam Wahballah, were released on bail pending an appeal.
In September, a court sentenced a newspaper editor-in-chief of Egypt’s An Nabaa tabloid, to three years in prison for “disturbing public security and contempt of religions” by printing a report about a Coptic monk's alleged sexual affairs – Albawaba.com
