ALBAWABA - In a statement released earlier today, the Norweigan foreign ministry said that Norway has decided to close its embassy in Mali by the end of the year due to the deteriorating security situation in the West African country.

Norway's decision to close its Bamako embassy follows a United Nations Security Council approval for the suspension of MINUSMA, a decade-long peacekeeping mission in Mali after the military junta that seized power in July ordered the force to depart.

In reference to MINUSMA's departure, "This will have consequences for the security of Norwegian and other diplomatic missions and international organizations in Mali,". the foreign ministry said in a statement.
