US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said Sunday there was "no way in the world" prime suspect Osama bin Laden acted alone in the September 11 terror attacks on US targets.
"It's not believable that the Taliban did not know where his network was located" and could not find and turn over Bin Laden and other top militants to the United States, Rumsfeld told CBS's "Face the Nation."
"There is no way in the world a network can function as effectively over a long period time," as the Saudi-born extremist's well-funded and well-organized al-Qaeda ("The Base") terror network has, "without being fostered by states, businesses, non-government organizations and corporations," Rumsfeld insisted.
The US administration of President George W. Bush believes Bin Laden is the prime suspect behind the hijackings and terror attacks that left more than 6,800 dead or missing in New York, Pennsylvania and Washington -- WASHINGTON (AFP)
