WORLD-class entertainers will star alongside Nissan at next week's Dubai International Motor Show, as other exhibitors strive to catch up with the pioneering trend set by the Japanese manufacturer at the 2003 event.
The Taiko Drummers - gold medallists at the 2005 Tokyo International Contest - will perform on the Nissan stand along with Canadian-born magician Arian Black, female magician of the year in 2004, and two champion US aerialists, Vitali Buza and Devon Gery.
"We were the first to introduce entertainment to the Dubai motor show and now that other exhibitors are following our example, we won't be the only stand with entertainment but we will always aim to be the best," said Nibal Slim, Marketing Manager, Nissan Middle East.
The three-member Taiko Drummers are part of the Taiko Project band specialising in traditional Japanese music and performing arts. Their massive drums are the centre-piece of a pulsating act that combines sound, rhythm, and movement into one spectacular performance.
Magician Arian Black is a headline act in Las Vegas and appears regularly on prime-time television in North America and Europe. She is the only female magician with a degree in magic and has worked all over the world since turning professional in 1990.
Champion aerialists Vital Buza and Devon Gery dazzle spectators their trapeze and gymnastic skills with Lira and Strap Acts, using state-of-the art equipment and rigging.
"They personify 'performance' and 'space' - key characteristics of the new 2006 Nissan Pathfinder that will be unveiled for the first time in the UAE at the motor show," said Slim.
Four shows will be presented daily at the Nissan stand, at 4pm, 5.30pm, 7pm, and 8.30pm for the duration of the motor show.
Nissan's Middle East communications partner TBWARAAD has commissioned renowned Las Vegas producer Sal Murillo to present and direct the motor show entertainment acts. Murillo is the founder of Las Vegas-based Unique Entertainment and has presented more than 100 live shows in four continents as well as innumerable television spectaculars.
"Entertainment is now a standard feature at international motor shows and Nissan has always been at the forefront of the trend, in keeping with the pioneering attributes of our vehicles and technology," said Slim. "We brought the concept to Dubai two years ago and now do our utmost to maintain that leadership position."
