Nissan’s top selling TIIDA is still receiving a plethora of international awards, one year after its initial launch in the Middle East. The Nissan TIIDA was the latest recipient of the “Inter-American Car of the Year 2007” award granted by FIPA (Inter-American Federation of Auto Journalists), which represents over 70 journalists from 19 countries from Latin America and the Caribbean including Mexico and the United States. TIIDA headed the category of Car of the Year, leading 58 other models by Japanese and German car makers.
Other international awards for the TIIDA include “Car of the Year 2006” in China, “Best Compact Car” and “Best Small Japanese Car” in the Middle East.
“TIIDA has been our best selling brand since its launch in the Middle East, recording over 25,500 unit sales in the GCC alone” said Hirotaka Mima, Sedan Brand Manager at Nissan Middle East. “TIIDA has exceeded all expectations and has become the top selling Japanese hatchback in the region, a testament to Nissan’s powerful entry into this market segment.”
TIIDA also received the highest safety rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), recording a highest rating of “Good” in the three crash tests, encompassing occupant protection in front, side, and rear collisions.
“We are pleased that Nissan’s continuous efforts to enhance the safety of its vehicles are reflected in the latest results of the IIHS tests. Nissan takes its commitment to product safety and customer satisfaction very seriously. All of our vehicles are designed and engineered to meet or surpass the safety regulations worldwide, as well as pass our own rigorous internal safety requirements” continued Mima.
