The Emirates News Agency reported that the local Holy Quran competition is the third branch of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award. All Holy Quran memorizers who wish to participate in the local competition have to be nominated through a memorization center, and then participate in every center’s internal competition, which will select the best memorizers from each center. One woman and one man from each center will be selected in each of the three following categories: memorization of the entire Holy Quran, memorization of 20 chapters and memorization of 10 chapters.
Dr Aref Al Sheikh said that names of the six winners selected from each center should be handed over to the technical committee of the competition by February 5 at the latest. The local competition organizers had divided the 42 centers and major memorization projects into areas according to geographical locations, and that in the second phase of the competition candidates would compete against other candidates in their area. "Each area should then hold finals among the centers falling under its jurisdiction to select the best six winners, two in each category, one man and one woman”. These winners will then attend the final phase of the competition.(www.albawaba.com)
