Hizbullah Secretary General Hasan Nasrallah on Thursday called on the current Lebanese government to step down, adding "it is of no use for some Lebanese ministers to rely on Western support." Nasrallah, in a speech delivered to demonstrators staging a sit-in for the 6th day in downtown Beirut, urged foreign parties not to intervene in Lebanese internal affairs.
"A new national unity government is the only way out of this crisis in order to prevent foreign intervention in Lebanon," he said in his speech aired by al-Manar TV station. Hizbullah chief added "the current government has received big support from the US," wondering "why is the US administration fond of this government."
He vowed to cintinue the protest until the government is replaced. "The door is open for negotiations ... but we will not leave the street before achieving the goal that saves Lebanon," Nasrallah stated. "We will not be dragged into any strife even if you kill a thousand of us. We will not raise weapons in the face of anyone ... Our weapons are only for our Israeli enemy," he added.
"We insist on our demands, for the formation of a real government of national unity," stressed Nasrallah.
