The Middle East crisis can be solved only by Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak said Saturday ahead of the Israeli leader's upcoming visit to Washington.
"Even with the violence, Sharon is the only one who can now solve the crisis," Mubarak told an annual gathering of youth and college students in the Mediterranean seaside city of Alexandria, 200 Kilometers north of Cairo.
Mubarak added Sharon was the only Israeli figure with the necessary political courage to move the peace process forward. "We must not forget that Sharon was the one who dismantled the Israeli settlements in Sinai, in the days when Menachem Begin was building them," the Egyptian leader stated. (Albawaba.com)
