Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak’s political advisor, Osama Al Baz, warned Sunday that "Syria would not be alone in the face of any Israeli aggression.”
In an interview with Al Ahram newspaper, Baz warned Israel that “Israel would make a grave mistake if it launched any war against Syria, which will not be alone in facing the Jewish state’s attacks.”
"Israel has to be precise when considering a confrontation with any Arab state, in particular Syria, which plays a pivotal role in making peace,” he addded.
Asked about a possible confrontation between Israel and Syria, Baz said that risks of war were very “low.”
On July 1, Israel carried out a new raid against Syrian military positions in Lebanon, injuring two Syrian soldiers and one Lebanese.
The raid was in retaliation for an attack by the Lebanese Hizbollah movement against Israeli army positions in the occupied Shabaa Farms area.
On Tuesday, Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon also said the annexation of the Golan Heights, seized from Syria in 1967, should be made irreversible.
