An Egyptian woman killed her two daughters and burnt down her home to avenge herself on a husband who reportedly tormented her, police sources said Tuesday.
Iman Mohammed Hassan, aged 33, homemaker in the Cairo district of Sayeda Zaynab, slashed the throats of her small daughters Minatulla, 8, and Mae, 6, on Monday evening, after she saw them fighting, the sources said.
Hassan then gathered her husband's and daughters' clothes in a hallway and set them alight, the sources added.
Police were alerted to the crime by neighbors. Hassan was arrested and confessed that she committed the killings to avenge herself on a husband who constantly taunted her and her daughters as ugly, the sources conveyed, according to an AFP report.
Hassan stated that her husband had also beaten her and threatened to send her to a mental hospital, the sources said. (Albawaba.com)
