Morocco is among the 23 eligible countries to apply for Millennium Challenge Account (MCA), which aims at assisting “low-income” countries selected by the U.S. government corporation MCC (Millennium Challenge Corporation). Apart from Morocco, the list of the selected countries include Armenia, Benin, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, East Timor, The Gambia, Georgia, Ghana, Honduras, Lesotho, Madagascar, Mali, Mongolia, Morocco, Mozambique, Nicaragua, Senegal, Sri Lanka, Tanzania and Vanuatu. <i>MAP</i> reports that the main criteria in the selection of the countries are good governance, economic freedom, and investments in people that promote economic growth and elimination of extreme poverty.
