Morocco has called on the European Union (EU) to open its markets for Moroccan agricultural products, reported ArabicNews.com.
"We expect Europe to further open its markets which are important for the balance of our society," Moroccan minister of economy and finance, Fathallah Oualalou, said.
Meanwhile, the African country and the EU will resume this week “technical” talks on fisheries.
The two sides have not been able so far to reach any new fishery agreement.
Since the previous Morocco-EU fishery agreement expired in November 1999, over 500 European trawlers, mainly Spanish, stopped all fishing activities in Moroccan waters.
On Wednesday, hundreds of Spanish fishermen intercepted the Moroccan agricultural and sea products at Green Island and Elmira port, and destroyed them in protest against the failure to renew the fishing agreement.
