Morocco has struck trade deals on the sidelines of Berlin's agriculture fair under which it will export Argan oil, Argan honey and Amlou, a famous dish in southern Morocco, made up of almonds, honey and argan oil, reported Maghreb Arabe Presse (MAP) on Monday.
Argan oil, an ecological product, is highly appreciated in European markets that are increasingly attracted to biological products. Morocco, which is the sole producer of the product in the world as the Argan tree only grows in southern part of the country, cannot however meet all the demand because production is still limited, according to the agency.
It added that a score of German and foreign importers got in touch with Moroccan producers participating in the fair to get more information on some displayed products.
Moroccans are also exploring the German market as an outlet for couscous-- the famed Moroccan dish, and to wines produced in the country -- Albawaba.com
