Morocco’s King Mohammed VI has sent Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika a message of congratulations on the occasion of his country's Independence Day.
The King wished the Algerian leader personal health and happiness and the brotherly Algerian people sustained progress and prosperity, the Maghreb Arabe Presse reported Friday.
The message recalled, "the phase of the heroic struggle waged by the brotherly Algerian people for their liberation and recovery of their national sovereignty and territorial integrity," a stage that was marked, he said, by, "firm backing and solidarity between our two brotherly peoples."
King Mohammed VI expressed hope that, "this shared historical heritage be a leverage to promote cooperation, communication … in a bid to build up the union of our Arab Maghreb on firm bases and make of it a strong grouping likely to serve the interests of our peoples in a world where there is no room for weak entities."
Additionally, the King prayed to God to, "bestow on us wisdom and perspicacity and to guide us to serve our peoples and fulfill their aspirations to enhanced brotherhood, unity and solidarity." (Albawaba.com)
