Twenty-two Iranian families, who moved to Iraq during the 1980-1988 war between the two countries, returned home on Tuesday, under a United Nations-supervised agreement, the official IRNA news agency reported.
The group of some 153 people crossed the southwestern Shalamsh border post, 16 kilometers from the city of Khorramshahr, the report said.
It is the seventh such group to return to Iran from Iraq under a deal implemented over the summer to help refugees from the countries' 1980-1988 devastating war to head back home, with the assistance of the UN refugee agency.
Thus far, 936 Iranians have returned home since the UN "voluntary program" was launched between the two countries on June 23, IRNA added. (Albawaba.com)
