Although welcome, the reduction in charges announced by Saudi Telecom Company recently is not nearly sufficient to satisfy mobile phone users, Arab News reported Sunday.
Last Friday, a ‘round robin’ series of messages flashed across the mobile network once more urging users to boycott the Saudi Telecom network for a day, said the Saudi news service, noting that this move is a repeat of the action just a month ago when a similar one-day boycott hit the telecom company.
Last Friday’s message explained that if subscribers stopped using the service for a day, it would cost Saudi Telecom an estimated SR8 million.
It further urged recipients to contact two other mobile users and thus escalate the effectiveness of the action.
The charges imposed by Saudi Telecom are believed to be the highest in the region. The last reduction offered by the telecom company was only on connection charges, not on mobile call charges resulting in only a minimal downward movement in most subscribers’ bills – Albawaba.com
