A light tremor measuring 3.3 on the Richter scale took place Saturday night near Cairo, though there were no casualties, the official agency MENA said Sunday.
The tremor occurred at 11:55 p.m. (local time) and its epicenter was at Dahshur, a rural area some 40 kilometers southwest of the Egyptian capital, Ali Taeleb, head of the National Center for Astronomical and Geophysical studies said, quoted by MENA.
Many inhabitants of the area felt the tremor, he said. He did not link this tremor to the violent earthquake that hit northwestern Iran Saturday killing over 200 people, injuring some 1,000 and causing serious damage. (Albawaba.com)
