Malaysian Prime Minister visits Syria

Malaysian Prime Minister Mahateer Mohammed and his wife arrived in Damascus Sunday on an official visit to Syria. 

 

He was received by Prime Minister Mohammed Moustafa Miro, Foreign Minister Farouk al-Shara, Transport Minister Makram Obeid, Culture Minister Nagwa Qassab Hassan and the Malaysian ambassador to Damascus. 

 

In a statement to reporters at the airport, Mahateer hailed the existing bilateral relations between his country and Syria, stressing that his visit aims at strengthening relations further. 

 

Moreover, according to SANA, the Malysian Prime Minister expressed his country’s support for Syria’s stances and legitimate struggle in defending its rights and restoring its territories. 

 

On his part, Miro described Mahateer’s visit to Syria as important and as a turning point in the standing bilateral cooperation between both countries in various fields. 

 

According to the agency, Miro said that the Malaysian Prime Minister’s visit will serve as an opportunity to discuss regional and international developments, especially Iraq and the Palestinian issue. (Albawaba.com)
