Davis Love avoided lightning and rain and had the lead when Friday's second round was suspended at the PGA Tour Colonial golf tournament.
There were two rain delays, including a nearly two-hour stoppage in the afternoon. Tournament officials finally suspended the round with half of the 106-player field still on the course.
Round two will resume at 9:00 a.m. (ET) Saturday. The 36-hole cut will be made following the completion of second-round play and qualifying players will then be paired for the start of the third round.
In an inconsistent round that featured eight birdies, two bogeys and a double-bogey, Love finished with a four-under-par 66 at the Colonial Country Club to move to seven-under 133 after 36 holes.
Love has played 47 straight events without a tournament win but came close to ending that drought last week as he lost in a three-way playoff at the Byron Nelson Classic.
After birdying the sixth hole and bogeying seven, Love closed his round with a five-foot birdie putt at the par-four ninth.
Love claimed the most recent of his 13 career PGA Tour titles at the 1998 MCI Classic and has posted six runner-up finishes since the start of the 1999 season. He held the third-round lead last week before coming up short.
"This is kind of the way I'm playing," Love said. "Things are going good, then I don't do anything drastically wrong and things just go the other way. I feel like I'm close to playing great. I hope I can settle down this weekend and play good, steady golf" - (Several Sources)
