Lightning killed two villagers this week in Iran's southwestern city of Borujerd in the province of Lorestan, reported the official Iranian news agency (IRNA).

Hassan Bayati, 48, was struck and died on Monday evening at a village, some 21 kilometers from Borujerd.

Another villager, Mehran Goudarzi, was killed by lightning on Tuesday evening at another village, 35 kilometers from the city.

The victims were hit by lightning while they were grazing their cattle in neighboring pastures.

Lightning strikes and subsequent flash floods in recent days have inflicted considerable damage on Borujerd. They have destroyed part of the crop in the region, killed several cattle and caused houses to cave in.

Flash floods earlier killed a female farmer and her daughter as they were working their land in Khorramabad in the same province, said the agency - Albawaba.com
