The Dubai Municipality has eased licensing procedures for food establishments that are not involved in food preparation. Such include supermarkets, groceries and food trading outlets. The new service is due to be available in a few days, according to Khaleej Times.

Asma Al Jesmi, Head of Customer Service Center said that the Execution Planning Section’s counter, based at the Dubai Department of Economic Development would now be those to issue licenses for the food establishments. This will facilitate them in completing their licensing procedures without having to go to the Food Control Section at the Municipality.

“They can also obtain from the same counter information about the health prerequisites the food establishments have to follow," noted Asma Al Jesmi. She added that the applicants had to pledge to abide by the necessary health and hygiene conditions. This was done by simply filling out necessary forms.

At present, the food control section will conduct random spot inspections at these establishments to check their compliance with these rules. (Albawaba.com)
