Following last month’s spectacular sellout LG Peace Concert held in Beirut, global digital leader LG Electronics recently presented a cheque of US$75,000 to the Children’s Cancer Center of Lebanon (CCCL).
The amount was the proceeds from the successful concert held in Beirut on October 28. Mr Y. G. Choi, General Manager of LG Electronics in Lebanon, and Mr. Selim Antaki, CEO of Brothers Electronics, LG’s partners in Lebanon, presented the cheque to CCCL Chairman Selim Zeinny, in the presence of top CCCL officials.
Held on October 28th, the LG Peace Concert also witnessed several auctions being hosted. LG and Brothers Electronics donated 20 Art Cool Air Conditioners for the auctions, which saw keen bidding by the concert-goers. The event also featured performances by Wael Kfoury and Elissa.
“The LG Lebanon Peace Concert is our way of touching lives of the communities we work with and to demonstrate that we care,” said Y.G. Choi at the presentation ceremony. “LG has always been at the forefront of community development and we are pleased that our vision is shared by the people who turned up at the concert to express their support.”
CCCL Chairman Selim Zeinny said that the donation would go a long way in giving hope to the young cancer sufferers in the country. “I am delighted to accept this cheque and would like to thank LG Electronics and the people who attended the concert for their generosity. The funds will support our efforts to alleviate the suffering of children and provide them with the essential therapies.”
Camille Khalife, General Manager of CCCL, said: “Our organisation is currently treating 400 patients. The treatment of each child costs $25,000 per year. Thanks to the proceeds from peace concert, we will now be able to treat three children the coming year or one child for three years, depending on the situation of the patients.”
