Lebanon's interior minister, Michele Murr, will raise the idea of an “Arab police force” at an upcoming meeting of Arab interior ministers in Tunisia to fight crime and drugs, he was quoted as saying by the Daily Star newspaper as saying.

“I have an important proposal to raise at the meeting, namely the creation of a unified ‘Arab police,’ similar to what Europeans have,” the minister said.

“Its tasks would include coordinating on fighting crime and drugs and other things,” he said.

Security cooperation, combating organized crime, drug trafficking and terrorism are topics usually discussed at meetings of Arab interior ministers who have signed a counter-terrorism agreement.
