Lebanese security forces arrested on Tuesday a man suspected of instigating an arson attack against a Tripoli church two weeks ago, the Daily Star reported.

The St. George Orthodox Church in Tripoli sustained minor damage in the attack.

The suspect, from Tripoli, was also accused of encouraging Hussam Nazem Abdullah, who was arrested Monday, to place a bomb in the doorway of St. Elias Maronite Church in Sidon, the Beirut-based paper said.

Judicial sources were quoted by the daily as saying that the investigation was making progress in identifying the culprits in Tripoli and Sidon, as well as in Batroun, where a mosque was set on fire.

Transport Minister Najib Mikati praised "national solidarity," citing the attacks as failed attempts to undermine the very unity which was displayed as a result of the explosion and arson attacks.
